Where are we going?

Information gathered through the Place Making Plan process will be used to inform the development of place making plans for Flintshire’s 7 main towns: Buckley, Connah’s Quay, Flint, Holywell, Mold, Queensferry and Shotton.

These plans will be the culmination of the analysis of all the consultation results, data analysis and feedback received in addition to information exchanged between Flintshire County Council and its partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors who are key stakeholders in our town centres. Each towns’ plan will provide details about what the priorities and associated opportunities are available.

Following on from the place making plan development, the range of priorities will inform an action plan and vision for each town centre. The 1-2 year action plan will be delivered by a range of people and organisations to bring about positive change.

The action plans can only be achieved if they are coordinated and aligned across organisations that are invested and mandated to deliver a positive impact on Flintshire’s towns.

The action plans are partnership projects between Flintshire County Council; the private and public sectors and our residents.

Flintshire is co-ordinating the development of the plans on behalf of a range of partners based on the local need of each town centre across Flintshire. Delivery and achieving maximum opportunity from them will be a collaborative approach from all involved and Welsh Government encourages local authorities to work collaboratively in the development and delivery of Place Making Plans.
The plans are being delivered by key partners brought together in two working groups: the places and people groups. The groups’ roles are to shape, influence, advise, challenge, champion and coordinate the development of the towns to meet the actions laid out in the plans. Each group is chaired by a lead partner and includes relevant individuals, organisations, partners and Council representatives.
